Our Story

Jeff, Collin & Tena

Our Family

Firstly we want to introduce the faces behind Reclaimed Resale & Workshop. We’re the Krugers; Jeff, Tena and Collin. A few quick facts about us: We’re originally from Racine, Wisconsin and still call it home except for 8 months out of the year when we call Door County home. Jeff is a point of purchase display designer in Racine. Collin is a web designer and owner of Ephraim Design and Tena is a former small business owner. Our family’s Door County roots go back to the early 1950’s vacationing in Jacksonport but in 2013 we purchased our home in Sister Bay. We love everything about Door County from it’s natural beauty to it’s bustling summers and quiet winters. We’ve always dreamed about one day owning a business in Door County and in late 2017 our dreams came true as we purchased our building in Ephraim.

Fruit Stand

Our beautiful building was built in 1983 and was originally built as a fruit stand – fitting for Ephraim considering that Ephraim means “Fruitful”. We’ve always loved the building as it had an inviting roadside appeal and a spacious interior with tons of natural light flooding in. It’s farmhouse charm along with the traditional white siding seen so much in Ephraim only added to its character. We had many fun and unique business ideas that we had been working through and dreaming about bringing to Door County. The concept behind Reclaimed became our final focus. To our surprise, the building that we so long loved, was put up for sale in 2016. We waited anxiously, praying daily that we could at some point purchase the building and start to build Reclaimed. In the Fall of 2017, the last piece to our Door County puzzle fell into place and we were able to purchase our building.

Over the years of new owners, renters, and general neglect the building had suffered some abuse: a leaky roof, rotten boards, poor insulation, old electrical, and so on. At one point during our final walkthrough before purchasing the building we all looked at each other as if to say “are we sure about this?” We were sure. We’re called Reclaimed after all so it was only fitting that the building would be the first thing we reclaimed. Work started immediately and little by little it was transformed beyond its former beauty.
